This summer The Peer Project – Youth Assisting Youth (YAY) presents the Summer Olympics Camp. Summer Camp is YAY’s biggest event of the entire year for Matches. It is a special opportunity to bond, share experiences and learn from one another.
From Saturday August 6th – Monday August 8th, matches join on a private lake for activities such as swimming, canoeing, kayaking, archery and beach volleyball as well as many other sports and team building activities like scavenger hunts in the forests, camp fires and much, much more. All Matches will be sleeping in a Cabin and/or a Tent at the camp site. Food will also be provided beginning with the bus ride up as well as 3 fantastic full meals each day (plus snacks) provided by our wonderful cooks.
Our camp program is specifically designed to accommodate our mentor-youth matches here at YAY and contribute to the overall health and wellness of each participant as they build upon their teamwork and communication skills, while also increasing their self-confidence and self-esteem.
For the past several years, The Peer Project – Youth Assisting Youth has offered a FREE camping experience to its matches. This is possible through generous donations from the “Toronto Star Fresh Air Fund”, as well as other supporting organizations. This year we have changed locations from our previous camp site Camp Northern Lights in Haliburton, Ontario and have booked a new experience at Selah Camp, located in South Bruce Peninsula, Ontario.
